Current Focus
On August 14, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck about 150km west of the capital Port-au-Prince, in Haiti. Over 17,000 Compassion-assisted children live in the area impacted. Through our soft launch on August 20th, we raised $10,000 and $5,000 was sent to Compassion Canada for the disaster relief fund for Haiti. We always go back to the Divineity Project 1 Million community to decide how donation funds are allocated to each project. Everyone in our community chose to help Haiti, unanimously.

Countries We Are Helping
Compassion has been operating in Brazil since 1975, and since then, over 200 churches are working to serve more than 58,709 Compassion-assisted children. Brazil is the fifth-largest country in the world and is known for its vibrant culture and hardworking population. However, there is a growing issue surrounding child abductions and trafficking. Compassion staff have been specially trained in child protection and children’s rights to help children in Brazil. Click here to learn more.
Compassion has been operating in Haiti since 1968, and since then, over 354 churches are working to serve more than 126,923 Compassion-assisted children. Haiti is a land of resiliency and optimism and unfortunately faces frequent natural disasters which heavily devastated the vulnerable children who are living in poverty. Compassion centers create hope for their future by covering part of children’s fees to attend secondary school. In addition to tutoring, these centers also provide vocational training activities so older children can explore economically sustainable careers
Compassion has been operating in Kenya since 1980, and since then, over 454 churches are working to serve more than 133,585 Compassion-assisted children. Kenya, although beautiful in the landscape, has severe droughts and famines that affect the realities of many impoverished Kenyans. Compassion distributes emergency food and water across the country. They also supply malnourished children with vitamins and medical care. To further support families, they have given communities drought-resistant seeds as part of income-generation projects. Compassion has been operating in Mexico since 1976, and since then, over 220 churches are working to serve more than 59,136 Compassion-assisted children. Mexico may be known for the ancient ruins and luxury resorts that attract tourists, but poverty is the reality for many living there. It’s not uncommon for Mexico’s powerful drug cartels to recruit children as a promise of a better life. Compassion intervenes when children are at risk for violence and danger. They also create centers that have educational and recreational activities to capture children’s attention so they aren’t tempted to fill their time in unhealthy ways. Click here to learn more
Compassion has been operating in The Philippines since 1972, and since then, over 397 churches are working to serve more than 99,258 Compassion-assisted children. The Philippines, though a tropical paradise to visitors, is home to natural disasters and social problems. Children in the Philippines are abused and exploited at an alarming rate and are in desperate need of protection. Each registered child is known by a Compassion staff member who has been trained to identify warning signs of abuse. If a child is at risk, Compassion intervenes quickly to ensure that each child knows she is known, loved and protected. Click here to learn more.
